Introduction and Potential Topics

Computational Intelligence has emerged as a rapid growing field in the past few years. Its various techniques, e.g. artificial neural network, genetic algorithm, machine learning and data\text\web mining, have been recognized as a collection of powerful tools for intelligent information processing, decision making and knowledge management in organizations ranging from manufacturing firms to medical and healthcare professions. An abundance of recent examples are witnessed, to name some of them: case-based reasoning and its application in medical diagnosis, customer relationship management through data mining, fault detection and quality improvement using artificial neural network, design rational assessment through semantic modeling of design documents, and so on. In this book, we would like to gather the latest advances of various topics in computational intelligence and report how organizations can gain competitive advantages by applying the different techniques in the real-world scenarios. Studies which couple the computational intelligence techniques and a specific application problem are cordially invited. Survey articles that emphasize the research and application of computational intelligence in a particular domain are greatly welcome.

Submission

All papers must be original and are not published, submitted and/or currently under review elsewhere. Each submission will be peer reviewed in a double-blind manner.

Authors are first invited to submit a 2-page proposal which clearly addresses the main content, issues and potential contributions of the proposed chapter on or before 31 March, 2007 to the corresponding editors. For the accepted proposals, authors should follow the Springer’s format requirement, in preparing their final chapters.

Please direct your correspondence, proposal and paper submissions to the corresponding editors through email. We will acknowledge you upon our receipt of your proposals and final chapters.
